OPENING:

#039-04-2022 D. McDowell – C. Jones
THAT this Special Meeting of the Council of the Corporation of the Township of Assiginack be opened for business at 5:00 pm, with a quorum of members present virtually, with Mayor Ham presiding in the Chair. CARRIED

ACTION REQUIRED ITEMS:

The meeting was called by the Mayor who had concerns about the size and location of the bridge to be placed at High Falls for pedestrian use. This project is funded by the Ontario Trillium Foundation and the contract has just been signed by the Township.

The Mayor has obtained quotations from other suppliers for a much longer bridge to be placed at a different location along the gorge.

Council members confirmed that they would also like to see a longer bridge but would prefer to deal with Sheppard Customer Builders who had supplied the original quotation under severe time constraints which allowed the application for funding to be submitted.

There was a long discussion among members regarding how to proceed as they wanted to take advantage of the funding, have the longer bridge and be fair to Sheppard Custom Builders. Staff clarified a few questions regarding the OTF contract and application submission. As well as the nature and contents of the full quotation submitted with the application and the limited quotation provided by the Mayor.

At the end of the discussion, it was determined that Council would ask Sheppard Custom Builders to revise their quote to include the larger bridge and we would proceed from that point.

No other matters were discussed.

CLOSING:

#040-04-2022 H. Moggy – R. Maguire
THAT we adjourn until the next regular meeting or call of the Chair. CARRIED
