MINUTES OF THE REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING

The Regular Meeting of the Council of the Corporation of the Township of Assiginack was held in the Council Chambers on Tuesday, February 18, 2020 at 4:50 p.m.

OPENING:

THAT the Regular Meeting of the Council of the Corporation of the Township of Assiginack be opened for business at 4:50 pm, with a quorum of members present, with Mayor Ham presiding in the Chair. CARRIED

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

The Council and staff extend appreciation and congratulations to our Events Coordinator Jackie White, the Assiginack Fire Department, the Public Works Department and all other individuals involved in making the 2020 Family Fun Day the fun-filled success that it was.

THAT we acknowledge the receipt of the OCWA Drinking Water Quality Management System: 2019 Management Review Minutes Report. CARRIED

 

ACTION REQUIRED ITEMS:

THAT Council authorizes the following Accounts for Payment:
General: $213,355.27
AND THAT the Mayor and administration be authorized to complete cheques #29638 through #29663 as described in the attached cheque register report. CARRIED

THAT Council authorizes the following Accounts for Payment:
Payroll: $19,554.10
AND THAT the Mayor and administration be authorized to complete cheques #29631 through #29637 as described in the attached cheque register report. CARRIED

THAT we inform David Smith of the Assiginack Historical Society that we support the society’s efforts to obtain banners for the 150th anniversary and that staff communicate and coordinate with Mr. Smith in this matter. CARRIED

THAT we accept the Proposal of EXP Engineering Services for the Manitowaning Water Distribution System Network Modelling and Upgrade Recommendations, at a cost of $22,425.00;

AND THAT the results of this proposal will be used to lobby for infrastructure funding to upgrade wild water lines on the system. CARRIED

THAT in accordance with By-law # 02-02 as amended and Section 239 of the Municipal Act as amended, Council proceed to a Closed Session (in camera) at 5:15 pm in order to attend to a matter pertaining to:
a) The Security of the Property of the Municipality or Local Board
b) A Proposed or pending acquisition or disposition of land by the Municipality

THAT we adjourn from our closed session at 5:30 pm, accept the Minutes of the Closed Session of January 2, 2020 and resume our Regular Meeting. CARRIED

THAT we inform NEMI & the MTA Maintenance Committee that we have no objections to the Erskine Proposal.

AND THAT we would prefer a united front, single access organization to deal with Tourist information and promotion.
