MINUTES OF THE REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING

The Regular Meeting of the Council of the Corporation of the Township of Assiginack was held in the Council Chambers on Wednesday, April 10, 2019 at 7:00 p.m.

OPENING:

THAT the Regular Meeting of the Council of the Corporation of the Township of Assiginack be opened for business with a quorum of members present at 7:00 p.m., with Mayor Ham presiding in the Chair.  CARRIED

BY-LAWS:

#96-07-19 H. Moggy – D. McDowell
THAT By-law # 19-06, being a by-law to Authorize an Agreement with the S.S. Norisle Steamship Society be given first, second and third readings and enacted in Open Council. CARRIED

 

Prior to the In Camera session, the CAO reviewed the following items that required Council guidance, but not resolutions:

Comprehensive Insurance RFP: Will grant a one week extension on submission date.

Council confirmed the standing position that food trucks and mobile carts were allowed on any current commercially zoned property, with the permission of the land owner.

Council agreed to have Staff research and prepare an ‘Investing in Canada Infrastructure Fund’ application for the reconstruction of that portion of the Bidwell Road found in Assiginack. Reconstruction is to mean replacement of culverts, ditching and leveling as required and resurfacing with asphalt.

Council agreed that the April 16, 2019 Regular Council Meeting will focus as much as possible on the 2019 budget.

 

CLOSED SESSION:

THAT in accordance with By-law # 02-02 as amended and Section 239 of the Municipal Act as amended, Council proceed to a Closed Session (in camera) at 7:30 pm in order to attend to a matter pertaining to:
a) The Security of the Property of the Municipality or Local Board
b) Personal Matters about an Identifiable Individual, including municipal or local board employees. CARRIED

THAT we adjourn from our closed session at 8:20 pm, accept the Minutes of the Closed Session of March 19, 2019 and resume our Regular Meeting. CARRIED
