THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWNSHIP OF ASSIGINACK

MINUTES OF THE INAUGURAL COUNCIL MEETING

 

The Inaugural Meeting of the Council of the Corporation of the Township of Assiginack was held in the Council Chambers on Monday, December 3, 2018 at 5:00 p.m.

 

Present: Mayor David Ham, Councillor Christianna Jones, Councillor Robert Maguire, Councillor David McDowell, Councillor Hugh Moggy

 

Staff: Alton Hobbs, CAO; Deb MacDonald, Treasurer; Jeremy Rody, Clerk; Freda Bond, Tax & Utility Manager; Jackie White, PEC; Ron Cooper, Public Works Superintendent

 

Others: Peter Baumgarten, Marilyn Moggy, Jean McLennan, Jane Tilston, Elwood Wohlberg, Theresa McDowell, Janine Pitawanakwat, Gabrielle Pitawanakwat, Ayden Hartley, Ava Hartley

 

All members of Council were sworn in at 5 p.m.

Mayor Ham welcomed all to the Council table and expressed his ambition for everyone in the community to work together with Council to make Assiginack a better place through economic development initiatives.

 

OPENING:

THAT the Regular Meeting of the Council of the Corporation of the Township of Assiginack be opened for business with a quorum of members present at 5:09 p.m., with Mayor Ham presiding in the Chair.  CARRIED

THAT the agenda for this meeting be accepted as presented.  CARRIED

 

DISCLOSURE OF PECUNIARY INTEREST:

There were no disclosures of pecuniary interest.

THAT the minutes of the Regular Council meeting of November 20th, 2018, be accepted.  CARRIED

THAT the minutes of the Manitoulin Centennial Manor Board meetings of September 13th and October 15th, 2018, be received.  CARRIED

ACTION REQUIRED ITEMS:

THAT Council authorizes the following Accounts for Payment:

General:         $72,836.05

AND THAT the Mayor and administration be authorized to complete cheques #28318 through #28353 as described in the attached cheque register report.  CARRIED

THAT Council authorizes the following Accounts for Payment:

Payroll:           $49,576.49

AND THAT the Mayor and administration be authorized to complete cheques #28311 through #28316 and #28354 through #28368 as described in the attached cheque register reports.  CARRIED
